It’s been almost four months since the funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Community Health Centers (CHC) lapsed on September 30th, 2017. Temporary funding has been provided to those states feeling the most impact, and it looks like there may be real progress on long term funding for the program.
After the Congressional Budget Office recently lowered its cost estimate to renew the program, a six-year extension looks likely, and CHIP funding has now been included in the bill being put forward this week to prevent a government shutdown. It’s unclear whether the proposed bill will also include CHC funding.
