CHIP renewed… FQHC funding still uncertain

Good news after almost four months of uncertainty – the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) has been renewed for six years; a relief to all who rely on the program.

However, future funding for Community Health Centers is still uncertain. Since funding expired last year, prorated funding has been made available through March. It’s expected that long term funding will be included in the next spending bill to be tabled early February, but with no clear timeframe on renewal, many health centers are in limbo.
