Community health center leaders briefed Congress on the importance of long term funding

Did you miss NACHC’s chartbook update? The chartbook outlines the growing important and sometimes unknown role FQHCs have in healthcare and the different advances the healthcare industry has accomplished that the community health centers also take advantage of. Did you know that FQHCs actively save the health care system more than $24 billion? Community health centers currently serve 28 million patients or 1 in 12 people; 1.4 million of those patients are homeless and more than 355,000 patients are veterans, a population that is growing within FQHCs.

On March 26, a panel of Community Health Center Leaders from around the country proactively briefed congressional staff. The briefing, “Health Centers – Addressing America’s Health Care Needs,” included information on why long-term funding is important and necessary for community health centers to receive and the effects such funding has on major health challenges, such as the national opioid epidemic.
